In tokens, what is the Overall Score and how is it calculated?

I have been getting some people asking me what the overall score is and how its calculated.
So I thought I would post it in the forums.

Its a bit complex to explain but its not really that complex once you know whats going on.

Each member of the swapstyle community that you trade with has the ability to leave feedback tokens for you after a trade. In order to make that contribution fair and safe, each member can only affect another member's overall score by +1, 0, or -1.

The overall score represents the number of members that are satisfied doing business with this member. It is the difference between the number of members who left a positive rating and the number of members who left a negative rating.

A rating from a unique member only contributes once to another member's Overall score. For example, when a member leaves 3 positive ratings for another member (for 3 different swaps), the other member's score increases only by +1.

Example: Daisy swapped and sold a total of 17 items with 9 different members. However, after these 17 transactions, her Overall feedback score increased by only 3. Take a look at the examples shown below to see how daisy's feedback score was affected after each transaction.

Members who left a positive:
Daisy had only one transaction with each of the following members. They each left her one positive rating (+1). These two positive ratings raised Daisy's feedback score by 2.

Members who left more than one positive:
This swapstyle member had three transactions with Daisy. All of them were satisfactory, so the swapstyle member left 3 positive tokens for Daisy, one for each transaction. This does not mean that Daisy's Overall score increased by 3. Since all three ratings were from the same member, Daisy's feedback score increased only by 1.

Members who had a neutral impact
This member left a neutral rating for a transaction with Daisy. In this case, Daisy's Overall score neither increased nor decreased but stayed the same.

Members who left a negative
This member was not satisfied with the transaction and so left Daisy a negative token  (i.e. -1). This decreased Daisy's score by 1.

Members who left different ratings for different transactions
A swapstyle member can leave only a positive, neutral, or negative feedback token for another member. Each of these ratings affects the other member's Overall score only once. For example, if a member left two negatives for Daisy, only one of them will contribute to Daisy's score. However if the same member left two negatives and one positive for Daisy, the negative rating will count once and so will the positive rating. Subsequent negatives or positives from the same member will not affect Daisy's Overall feedback score. Take a look at the following scenarios:

The member shown below left Daisy 1 neutral and 1 positive rating. This affected Daisy's score by (0+1) = +1.

The member shown below left Daisy 1 negative and 1 positive. This affected Daisy's score by (-1+1) = 0.

The member shown below left Daisy 1 negative and 2 positives. This affected Daisy's score by (-1+2) = +1

The member shown below left Daisy 2 negatives and 1 positive. This affected Daisy's score by (-2+1) = -1

OK so that's the overall scores. but what do the Positive score and Negative score represent?

Positive Score:
This represents the number of unique members who have given Daisy a positive rating. If a member has had several transactions with Daisy and leaves more than one positive rating, they will still only count once in this number.

Negative Score:
This represents the number of unique members who have left a negative rating for Daisy. If a member has left multiple negative ratings, they will still count only once in this number.

Ok I understand the Scores, so what are Total Tokens?

Total Positive/neutral/negative Tokens:
This represents the total number of positive, neutral or negative feedback tokens received for all transactions, including repeat customers.

Hope this helps smile

Re: In tokens, what is the Overall Score and how is it calculated?

Thank you for the explanation though I don't feel this is fair as I prefer to swap to those that I have had positive transactions with before. Additionally, I feel there aren't many active or reliable members that I have encountered and therefore I have returned to those I know I can trust from previous transactions.
