Newbie Question re: Obtaining Swappers' Addresses

Greetings, fellow swappers!

I'm new, and I've completed three swaps. Of these, only one person has responded to my request for a mailing address. I have forwarded my address to all 3 via the "Contact Swapper" option. I've requested that my message be sent to both their online mailboxes and personal email.

How long does one wait before determining a deal has fallen through. I swap on other sites, and once deals are accepted, we're expected to mail our packages within 48 hours.

I could use some guidance, as I'm unsure of the norm here. Thanks in advance to everyone who posts a response!

Re: Newbie Question re: Obtaining Swappers' Addresses

once a swap is accepted, you should get an email (in your regular email) that includes the person's email address. The Email says "So-and-So has accepted your offer". I them email them on their email address to exchange information and work out details. I think the PM system is great, but it clogs up my system and it's just easier (IMO) to use email. But everyone is different.

As for the 48 hours, it is a great idea and is actually ideal, but I don't know that it is enforceable here. Most people who are trustworthy (myself included) will mail it out the next day. HTH!

Re: Newbie Question re: Obtaining Swappers' Addresses

Wow 48 hours is a good idea but if i do that i guess i have much more deal to abort. Many people here dont have  the priority to fix swap exchange. I wait many times for an adress or simply for a package and after i realize many people just forgot to send. Im very helpful and i accept  many times to wait  after the person cause i really like her things but ... in fact shipping fast is not the priority of many swappers. Also , i have no problem to wait if the person told me a reason, or asking for a delay but unfortunatly many persons just dont tell why you have to wait and ignore some message. But old swappers generally  send faster than  others. A good clue is to send an email in a regular email, not on swapstyle and also see if the person come on swapstyle  after you do the deal. If not maybe she just dont look her message if yes maybe its a problem. Personnally im patient i wait one month before i send an email for an aborted deal. I know i wait so long but i dont like to have aborted deal in my profile. But sometimes you just dont have the choice.
Sorry for my poor english and i hope my message help you a little bit. Welcome here and have a great swap experience!

Re: Newbie Question re: Obtaining Swappers' Addresses

I appreciate everyone's feedback. I've received one more address, so I'm 2 for 3.

On other swap sites, the Terms of Service state the number of days you have to ship your items(s). In fact, prompt shipping is one of the criteria used to rate your swapping partner. People take this seriously, as they don't want neutral or negative feedback.

I'm not dissing Swapstyle. I'm happy with my current swaps. But I think it's confusing when newbies swap and their swapping partners fall off the grid! All I want is addresses so I can ship my stuff!

Thanks again to everyone who weighed in!

Re: Newbie Question re: Obtaining Swappers' Addresses

Two things make me confused or i dont know the exactly word... First, swapping in 24 hours seem to be very nice but, when you do multiple swap you dont have the time and  the money to go everyday to the postal office. You have to work and you dont always have the time to go at postal office. I guess you can go one time per week maybe two and do all your swap in the same time and its not so long. BUt me i dont have a problem to wait two weeks for something i swap or buy cause its not like i need it, its not food or money, so  one, two weeks doesnt matter me. ONe month its little bit annoying, if the person ask me for a delay or told me she can send now cause  she cant, and she is communicative, no problem. I have a problem with the person if she dont talk to me or answer to my message. Second thing, is  leaving a negative token. I dont know why but i  have some trouble to leave negative. Sometimes you have to abort for some reason and also i dont want to receive a negative cause im leaving a negative. YOu know what i mean. BY the way its just my opinion but if i have to leave negative for all the abort deal that i have this summer ( not my fault, but many new swappers just change her mind like  in 24 hours) , i have a big bunch of negativism to do on the site. :*) Many person just dont know  what they do. I have a dream that one day every swappers wille be so professional and fast, and great and happy!
